As the Ekiti State All Progressives Congress (APC) holds its rally in Ado Ekiti, the state capital Wednesday, in preparation for the 2018 governorship poll, the state police command has deployed its personnel in the town.
The rally, according to the state party’s Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, was mooted to rally support for the opposition party for the forthcoming titanic electoral battle.
Members were present in mass at Okeyinmi junction where the rally will kick off.
Probably to forestall a breakdown of law and order, the police deployed Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and several police Hilux vans to a section of Ado Ekiti where the rally is to hold.
The security personnel have huge presence at Okeyinmi roundabout up to Ijigbo and Ajilosun area of the metropolis, where the party’s secretariat is located.
The security also stretched to the popular Ojumose junction where the Deputy Governor, Prof Kolapo Olusola, and Governor Ayodele Fayose’s anointed candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held his rally on Monday.
The security deployment led to the blockage of Old Garage-Okeyinmi-Ojumose road, which has forced commuters and motorists going to Iyin Ekiti to pass through stadium road at Dallimore to Fajuyi Park.
