Ahead of the July 14 2018 governorship election in Ekiti State the Peoples Democratic Party in the state has threatened to clampdown on any governorship aspirants of the party who orchestrate violence or cause disaffection that might affect the chances of the party at the election.
Chairman of the party in the state, Gboyega Ogutuwase issued the warning on Wednesday at the party secretariat during a meeting with members of the state working committee in preparation for the party’s primaries scheduled to hold in April.
Ogutuwase noted that the party would not hesitate to disqualify any aspirant who does not comply with the party’s rules and regulations.
The Ekiti PDP chairman however asked members of the party not to misinterpret the endorsement of Governor Fayose’s deputy, saying his endorsement by the governor will in no way affect the conduct of the party’s primaries.
AIT’s Yemi Adebayo reports that only one aspirant from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially declared his intention to run for the governorship election, with about 2o aspirants from the APC.
