The arraignment of Olukere of Ikere-Ekiti, Ganiyu Obasoyin has stalled today, Wednesday, January 31, in Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
This is is just a counsel to Olukere, Barrister Morakinyo Ogele raised a preliminary objection to the arraignment of Olukere.
One of our correspondents who monitors the proceeding report that, the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Gbemiga Daramola told the court that the case is for arraignment of the suspect, but counsel to the defendant, Morakinyo Ogele raised a preliminary objection adding that, he had pettition Inspector General of Police (IGP) over the shoddy investigation of the matter before his client was charged to the court, according to him, the arraignment of the suspect on Public Holiday without proper investigation of the case by the police nagate the law of natural justice and sound contradictory to the constitution of Nigeria, he urged the court to allow the team of police sent from Abuja to carry out the re-investigation of the matter before his client can be arraigned before a court of competentent juridiction.
Direcotor of Public Prosecution, DPP, Gbemiga Daramola who objected to the move by Ogele told the court that, the preliminary objection was lacking in merit and has no legal basis, stressing that no law for beat place to carry out investigation on Public Holiday, he told the court that the alleged offence was committed on December 25th, 2017 and upon pleased investigation, the accused were taken to the Chief Magistrate Court in persuant to the Ekiti State Administration of Crimial Justice, adding that duplicate case was taken to the DPP for issuance of legal advise. He told the court that, legal advise was issued on January 10th 2018 and the suspect have the case of murder, conspiracy and attempted to murder.
In his ruling, the trial judge, Abiodun Adesodun, the rule that each of the suspects must dully serve the court process to know the account charge and consequently adjourned the case till February 16th, 2018.
However, counsel to Olukere of Ikere, Morakinyo Ogele in an interviewed with the newsmen condemn the arrest, detention and arraignment of Olukere, and accused the state government and Ministry of Justice of bias.
